Fourth of July in the Santa Clarita Valley 2009

The Fourth of July in the Santa Clarita Valley is one of the best times of community and connection! It is local as Rotary Pancakes and Girl's In Tiaras! (Love them!)

But make no mistake about it Santa Clarita Valley combines yesteryear traditions with today's fun-upbeat! Miss Valencia's Dress by Designer Sean Jonathan- California and Main 805-643-6200 and Jewelry by Jody Chenot- Girly Girl is 805-320-3788. Six Flags Magic Mountain also had a great showing! For those that know me, I also love mascots and that Bugs and gang took the time to be a part of the day was Awesome!

Luckily, we achieved a spot in the shade of a cherry-picker holding the camera crew ... and yes, we were munching on the world-famous Leona Valley frozen cherries we picked ourselves only a short few weeks before :-)

We also checked into the Bristol Farms 1st Annual Community Fair!the fireworks we did see, but from a distance - so much of a distance the blurry-phone pics would have made you squinting.

Always reminding you to Enjoy the World around you!

Also, if you know someone who needs to buy or sell real estate, please pass on my info. Your support is truly appreciated.

Residents Share what they are doing to Go-Green in Santa Clarita Valley

Residents in the Santa Clarita Valley share with the community what they are doing to make their existing homes more energy efficient and reduce their recurring cost of energy.

http://www.scvoffthegrid.com/index_files/GridVids.htm

The SCV Off The Grid project's main objective is to facilitate and educate the community to implement large-scale retrofits for solar, wind and watershed technologies in the Santa Clarita Valley to support future marketability of property in the area. New developments built from the 'ground-up' will benefit more from the 'sky down' and may include eco-amenities for Sun, Wind and Water usefulness. Let's work together now ahead of any eco-retrofit standards on existing communities HOAs, Utilities,Businesses, Programs,Incentives, and You!

Earth Day 2009 and Arbor Festival - Santa Clarita, CA

(April 18, 2009 ) was the 20th Annual Arbor/Earth Day in the Santa Clarita Valley. Spring has Sprung! And this year Santa Clarita expanded the vendors to bring the world of 'greening-up' accessible and cost effective for homes and businesses.

We visited with many booths including Student for Sustainability at the College of the Canyons, made crafts, planted trees, and caught up with Alec from SunTek and the Local GreenResource folks were out in full force. We saw the presentation of awarding Santa Clarita - City of Trees!!!!

Set your calendars for next year as this is the premier event to "Spring" you into action for your home and business.

FHA Lenders to Allow $8000.00 to be used for Down Payment

Buyers in Santa Clarita Valley and beyond, this is exciting news for you!

HUD Secretary, Shaun Donovan announced that FHA Lenders are going to be allowed to let First Time Homebuyers use the up to $8000.00 tax credit as a down-payment.

To quote Mr. Donovan, speaking at the Mid-year conference of NAR in Washington:
Secretary Donovan said that important changes, which the National Association of Realtors® has been calling for, will help consumers purchase a home. “We all want to enable FHA consumers to access the home buyer tax credit funds when they close on their home loans so that the cash can be used as a downpayment,” Donovan said. According to Donovan, the FHA’s approved lenders will be permitted to “monetize” the tax credit through short-term bridge loans. This will allow eligible home buyers to access the funds immediately at the closing table.

The rate on the bridge loans were not mentioned, but it is another resouce and consideration for home buyers! The National Association of Realtors continues to work dilligently on efforts for home-buyers.

Go Green Expo - Los Angeles, CA

The Go Green Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center was fantastic. A good group of people, products, services, programs and incentives showcased to innovate and educate. Sustainability is achievable for the future marketability of our homes and to lessen our dependence on foreign sources for energy.

I look forward to sharing the information, products and services available in our own area when I see you around town. Promoting good stewardship and responsible attention to how we use items and re-use items is exciting for renters and property owners, business owners and those in public office. It is possible to acheive this with community cohesion toward this valuable cause.

Mariel Hemingway shared some interesting insights into the meaning of 'Green'...in the home evaluating the fit and finding the home that reflects who we are and who are yet to be.
